"Stop at Nothing" goes beyond any kind of competition or training; it's my way of never giving in with relentless pursuit. That way, when I'm tested, nothing can and will stop my preparation from meeting opportunity. This mindset's inspired by my role model, Kobe Bryant, who said, "Rest at the end, not in the middle." My passion behind all of this is more than just wanting to push my limits and see what I can accomplish. It's my way of giving back to my family, the people who have sacrificed so much for me to be in this position, and so many others who have poured their time and effort into seeing me flourish. And last but most importantly, for Jesus, who has given me these gifts that I use to glorify him. This prayer is my inspiration: "Christ has no body but yours, No hands, no feet on earth but yours, Yours are the eyes with which he looks Compassion on this world, Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good, Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, Yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now but yours, No hands, no feet on earth but yours, Yours are the eyes with which he looks compassion on this world. Christ has no body now on earth but yours." - Teresa of Avila
During COVID, I was determined to teach myself how to high jump. At this time I adopted another one of Kobe's famous lines, "I don't want to look back and wish I had done more." I went to Home Depot, got two wood beams, some L-brackets, and a PVC pipe to go along with an old gymnastics pad and mattress that you see in the video. I remember measuring each height, trying to get it perfect. I would train for hours on it every day in the Arizona summer heat nonstop. The number of times I had failed and landed on the bar still might be more than the amount of times I had cleared it. But each day I saw myself getting better and better... I was more than determined; I was hungry.
That summer was a pivotal moment in my life, where I realized that I really can accomplish anything I commit myself to. The very next season, I went from jumping 5'10" freshman year to 6'5" in the high jump my sophomore year, becoming one of the best jumpers in the state.
The title of my website, "Ideas Into Action, Action Into Impact," is a testament to where I am now. An idea to become the best version of myself is an action and a commitment that I hold strong to every day. The only limits in life are the ones we put on ourselves. I'm more than proud to be a part of Sun Devil Nation and compete for Arizona State. I've got big things awaiting...but instead of writing about them, I'll let the work do the talking. Let's find out soon, O2V!
